I used to love doing favourites videos on my YouTube channel back in the day- are people still doing those? I’ve missed sharing the things that have brought me joy so I’ve decided to start doing monthly round ups of the things I love here as part of someday someday.
TV Show
This month, I have been HOOKED on the eight-part limited series, Presumed Innocent, a new Apple TV crime series, based on an 80s novel and starring Jake Gyllenhaal.
‘The gripping series takes viewers on a journey through the horrific murder that upends the Chicago Prosecuting Attorneys' office when chief deputy prosecutor Rusty Sabich (played by Gyllenhaal) is suspected of the crime. The series explores obsession, sex, politics, and the power and limits of love, as the accused fights to hold his family and marriage together.’
Worth it for the sex scenes alone, this is a must watch.
Restaurant
I recently had the most delicious dinner with my friend Lindsey at DALLA, a neighbourhood Italian restaurant in Hackney. We shared tortelli di spallia cotta, olives of course, vegetables sott’olio and a few more things. Everything was divine and I’m not exaggerating for effect. The vibes were immaculate - I think the design of the space is simply perfect (and perfectly simple). I can’t wait to go back.
Activity
I’m really in my walking era right now that the weather in London has given us a brak from the rain. I’ve been trying to get out for a daily mental health walk on my lunch break for about 45 mins to an hour. It’s always surprising to me how much it can help me decompress. I spend so much time behind my computer that sometimes I forget there’s. a big world out there. Walking gives me space to think, brainstorm ideas in my mind, listen to podcasts. Sometimes I don’t wear my headphones and simply just soak up the nature around me. I’m lucky to live near the canal, so I love seeing the little duckies swimming around. If you’re looking for the perfect cap, find it here.
Book
Last year I devoured the popular Cleopatra and Frankenstein by Coco Mellors, so I was super keen to get my hands on her latest novel, Blue Sisters. Spoiler alert - it did not disappoint. Blue Sisters is a story of love, grief and human nature. Based all over the world, three siblings reunite in New York City to work through the loss of their sister. I love the way Coco writes and I find myself stopping a lot to appreciate the attention to detail of attention to detail of otherwise very subtle undercurrents that occur silently in a woman’s mind. Beautiful.
Beauty
I love all things beauty, but I wanted to give some extra love to the products I’ve been travelling around with in July that have not left my side.
BYREDO Fragrance - Eyes Closed
‘Top notes of cinnamon and cardamom, two of the most antique of fragrances, have a primal immediacy redolent of close comfort and warm skin for both men and women. While carrot, orris butter and ginger at once complement the top, yet freshly cut through any notion of cloying – at its heart, this is a modern relationship of equals. A mysterious matching of papyrus and patchouli is at the base, similarly ancient and yet unexpected and modern in their complexity. Anchoring all with a gravitas, both compelling and cocooning.’
MIRROR WATER (Solid Body Oil) - RUB Solid Balm
A great one to travel with in your carry on because it’s solid. Melts instantly and can be used anywhere on the body for hydration and glow.REOME Serum - Active Recovery Broth
A serum that will actually have an immediate effect. Absolutely incredible stuff.
Tata Harper Eye Serum - Elixir Vitae
The Rolls-Royce of eye creams
MV Skintherapy Face Oil - Rose Plus Booster
This is the best rose oil on the market (IMHO), with its blend of precious rose oils that work to hydrate and strengthen, encouraging clear & dewy skin. Can’t live without it and I’ve been using it for about 10 years.Medik8 Vitamin C - C Tetra Luxe
Vitamin C every day! It helps to address fine lines, dark spots and pigmentation. It makes my skin look brighter and smoother. This is the best one I’ve tried so far.
Would love to hear some of your podcast recs!
